Finally: Southern Border Crossings Down Over 90%

God is great. Praise the Lord Almighty. The world has been reeling since the rather decisive election victory of Donald Trump and start of his second presidential term in office, paying close attention to every move out of the US government on all fronts. Among the most drastic changes in history in government leadership between consecutive presidencies is expected, and of course, here at Unviraled, we have got you covered on all the data.

Since the beginning of this blog, one of the main data points we have focused on has been the crisis at the US-Mexico border. Some of the most striking data have emerged from the southern border in the last four years, much of which we have discussed. We had yet to find a positive development that would even curb the ongoing crisis of illegal crossings, humanitarian crises, and casualties. The Biden administration has objectively been a disaster for America’s economy and sovereignty bro.

That all ended on January 20th. The continuous flow of migrants was cut in half and grinded to nearly a halt on January 21st. Since Trump became president, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been conducting comprehensive raids nationwide of dangerous people of undocumented status. Between January 23 to January 31, ICE raided 6,401 criminal aliens. This included members of middle eastern terror organizations, as well as gangs like Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

On the 26th, 50 Venezuelan members of Tren de Aragua were arrested. Anderson Zambrano-Pacheco was among those who led a highly publicized takeover of apartment buildings in Aurora, Colorado in 2024. Cesar Polanco of the Dominican Republic, another detainee, murdered his girlfriend in front of his son. In addition to murderers and terrorists, serious sex offenders were raided; among them Mexican national Magdaleno Zenen Hernandez-Garcia, for the continued abuse of a minor. These are only a few examples from a vast criminal registry.

Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar (say what you will about the difference in border czars between Trump and Biden), says the Trump administration will “open the aperture” to expand the focus from dangerous criminals to non-violent illegal aliens. ICE has given itself a goal of 1,500 arrests per day, equating to 500,000 arrests per year. 10 million people entered illegally under the previous administration and 2 million gotaways. There is still a long way to go, and substantial obstruction by “sanctuary city” politicians, but Americans remain hopeful ICE will improve its efficiency.

Reinstating all his previous border policies and adding new ones, in addition to having already sent a stern message that the border would no longer be open, Trump brought down illegal immigration over 90% within his first full day back in office, according to the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). Encounters dropped from around 15,000 to less than 1,000 per day. On the first few days, he issued a series of executive orders to order this action.

Firstly, he issued an executive order titled Guaranteeing the States’ Protection against Invasion. It invokes the President’s authority under Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act to suspend the entry of aliens deemed “detrimental to the interests of the United States.” The order also invokes the President’s duty under Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution to protect the states against invasion. This means Trump’s declaration of an “invasion” sets this rule indefinitely in place, applying it to all illegal aliens.

Trump’s “invasion” order prompted the Department of Homeland Security to fully re-instate his aforementioned Remain in Mexico policy. This means aliens awaiting a court hearing will be deported to Mexico awaiting approval or deportation. The new old president also ended parole for aliens (catch and release), reinstating expedited trial and removal, saving taxpayer expenses. The Biden-era CBP One app, which provided parolee protections, was terminated as a result of the orders. Anti-enforcement policies in “sensitive areas” such as schools and churches were also overturned.

In addition to executive actions, departments with new administration leadership are independently assisting ICE in bringing illegal immigration under control. The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF), U.S. Marshals Service, and Federal Bureau of Prisons have been enforcing laws against illegals. The new government’s internet and media campaign putting would-be migrants on notice has also aided deterrance efforts.

The second Trump administration’s actions have already eliminated much of the illegal immigration disaster in their first weeks and plan to take additional measures, to ensure the safety of Americans. There is still a long road as far as deportations, and congressional and judicial action to cement laws. The administration must also combat obstruction from rabid pro-illegal immigration politicians. Americans should contact their politicians to support enforcing our laws. Our sovereignty is at stake. Right now, however, America is back, and the people should root for it to succeed.
